does reading them give you the skill boost forever or are you on a timer?

you also get an XP boost in skill points you get from traits

for example if you pick the burglar occupation you get more XP for lightfooted and sneaking skills than you would normally, making it easier to level up those skills - it's probably why a lot of ppl start with the lumberjack job since I think that one gives skills in both axes (which are supposed to be the best melee weps in the game) and carpentry which is crucial for building and maintaining bases and shit like that

its actually better than what it says

if you have +75% XP bonus in a skill, it actually equates to a 400% bonus to XP gain

I was gonna say yeah it seems a lot higher, in my solo runs learning the game I've been defaulting to burglar because of the bonuses to stealth but mainly for the decreased window break and hotwire access and I notice the skills level up so fucking fast

Throwing in negative traits that aren't really a problem (Weak stomach, prone to illness, thin skinned) I can stack some pretty good traits like gymnast, wakeful and so on

wakeful is arguably the best trait in the game

the game doesn't tell you this but your stamina recovery is directly proportional to your tiredness
at 100% tiredness you literally cant regenerate stamina

which is why when you have the wakeful trait you suddenly seem to have far more stamina

Yeah a lot of my early runs I died because I got essentially locked in a vicious cycle of:

Have to use stamina to flee a horde > I become tired > Need to keep moving to not die > Become even more tired > Can't rest anywhere because I can't get someplace safe > Stamina never comes back so I'm stuck walking everywhere

Take the wakeful pill.

migration events, occur every few days or when zombie hordes have gotten too concentrated

helicopter event should only happen once, gunshots and other stuff occurs every few days
