can we take a minute to appreciate and realise how incredibly tame this is when compared against other rockstar IPs?
like this game and max payne are the only two out of rockstar's catalougue where i genuinely empathize with the protagonist, and don't feel some incessant murderer (gta 4 had a stellar story, but it really detracted from the whole experience when niko went out and murdered innocent women on the street, but in a mission would depressingly reflect on how he killed people back in his home country).
yeah, granted max and morgan are both killers, but i feel as if they're both striving towards doing good - the murdering in RDR2 in free-roam doesn't feel as enforced when compared to GTA, for example. morgan is enigmatic and interesting, albeit a bit simple-minded in the grand scope of things; unable to look past himself and the van der linde gang, fearful that his generation is the last to live the life of the west before it is all industrialized, stuck between continuing to run and moving away from the life with dutch and that.
i've had a lot of fun with the game, the story is engrossing, albeit tedious at points. definitely not a 10/10, but the ability to ride across the rugged heartlands of un-tamed america as a fleeing outlaw is a lot of fun.
