Serious Remarks about Nebulous compared to other servers

I'm going to preference this in saying that I don't want this to become a thread in which people shit on the community but rather, a thread that examines just how bad things could be.

I've done a lot of RP over the years on Garrysmod and the community has definitely changed but one thing that has been consistent with other serious RP Servers would be how much of a mess they are. I've seen a lot of servers last a good few months before shutting down due to petty reasons like drama and the such and I look at Nebulous and I'm like
"Wow, this community has been alive for three years."

It's just, shocking, really. A lot of the servers I've been on have been utter trash and now I see people from those other servers go about creating their own servers ran by their friends and invite people they don't like just to inflate the server count so when the server is popular, they can start pushing out people they don't like and they'll still have a stable population.

Honestly, things could be way worse than what they are here. People complain about x and y but I've seen Serious RP servers with horrid organization, abusive staff members and an owner literally give a female member of the community a pass when they abused staff permissions and did absolutely nothing when they were called out on it.

I feel @Rabid put it best in the " What is it that you hate most about HL2RP" thread.

Like I've said, its never "Oh man here's a thread of all the good stuff! Thanks guys!"

Its always "MAN WHAT DO YOU FUCKING HATE? WHAT CAN WE COMPLAIN ABOUT TODAY?"

It wears you down. This community comes across more as ungrateful than anything - or people will drop epic zingers to laugh about with their buddies or only stick around to stir the pot but will cry and complain when they get a slap for doing it. Ya'll wonder why you get the responses you do sometimes.

Regardless of personal feelings, regardless of 'shittier' servers, the instant the right to criticize and create criticism goes down the bin, you're on equal footing with SCG. Because, that's exactly what they did when it all turned to shit.

oh yeah I agree, you should be able to complain.

The point im making is that, compared to other servers, things could be way worse and im personally glad they aren't.

As much as I complain about the staff on nebulous and shit atleast you're actually allowed to complain here.

Neb also has the best PK and ban appeal systems out of any server I've played where it actually gets dealt with fairly most of the time, compared to some servers where the same admin who banned you can literally just deny it without any input.

I can actually hold out conversations with people here unlike some other places, which is nice

Nebulous isn’t the best RP server I’ve played on. It’s a good community though

Neb has a lot of potential that comes up short.

Neb's far better than the majority of other large HL2RP communities still around, but having to cater to such a large community means not everything can be as freeform and in smaller ones.

Equally though the size is something of a positive because you don't see a lot of what you do on small, insular communities when it comes to blatant staff biases and stuff.

There's always room for improvement, but yeah compared to some other servers out there nebulous looks like a slice of heaven. Don't think I have to name ((certain pedo communities)) to prove my point.
