Got a test today. Stressin my dudes. Weekend bad.
We go:

Took me a second to understand what was going on, but I got it in the end. Love a picture that makes me think about the story going on in it. So there's a great picture going on here, showing some betrayal and admittance. It's composed and posed super well, and the lighting is superb too! But, I always believe something is missing. The scene itself has enough props involved, but it's just the camera work. Perhaps a different angle? Or some depth of field? Great work though buddy. Me likey.

Your 'trying out photoshop and shit' is looking pretty top. Supposing this is a vinyl cover/slip of some kind. And it's great! Colours all match up and you have all the pieces just perhaps they're a bit misaligned or assembled? Like why my guys toes on the edge of the bottom. And the text is missing some texture maybe? In contrast to the volume of texture the picture of Boba shows. Great entry, can't wait to see what else you get up to.

You always post so many good ones, but for the sake of time saving I chose my fave to offer some criticism. Posing is really good, and there's an even amount of objects in the pic though I'm assuming it's a map of some kind as the slops of dirt are pretty well moulded + haven't seen props like that before. What I think is even more unique is the troops laying down against the rock up ahead on the left, haven't really seen that been done before here - looks difficult imo. I would've included the guys feet in the pic for my own impulses but even without that, looks great. Maybe the sky is a little too bright though? Just nit picking. Great as usual.

Hmmmm... looking similar to your previous, and the lighting on the soldiers is good but it doesn't really sync up to the colour behind like before y'know? And like, three of the Prices are copy pasted I assume, they're all great examples of good posing but just a bit thrown together y'know? Done everything right, just maybe in the wrong order this time Piggo my guy. Coolio.

Very very thrown together, didn't put thought into the colour theory. Was testing models and wanted to pump some blood into the the thread, winners this week are well deserved.

The Firebrand Pack
Firebrand was a fictional paramilitary/mercenary faction in the roleplaying game Espionage Wars, its creator, Rusty, has now allowed me to upload them publically.
All credit to Rusty, Ninjanub and ANIMALMOTHER/FT for creation.

One thing that makes them truly unique is that they are civilian militias, styled like them anyway. Take away the gear and they're just guys in hoodies and t-shirts, jackets and jumpers.
The vehicles are also very high quality with lots of variation and skins and shit.

Been learning rigging on C4D so i can use models from the workshop. This was done as a side project during my own time. Its mostly just tutorial work however as i still dont know enough about the program to attempt anything ambitious.

Just finished this on my own thread, and figured I might as well submit it here for funsies.

In case the nitty-gritty details should also be put here:

Spoiler: The nitty-gritty stuff

• In-game

1. The Advisor models are from a separate addon, because by default the HL2 model of Advisor overrides the model from Episode 2. Plus, it had no collision models, so no ragdolls. The ones I got from the addon were pretty nice, arms were a bit annoying to pose, but nothing impossible.
2. Using the mini_borealis model, I came to realize two things.
   1. The model itself is fucking enormous. However, using Collision Resizer, I got it squeezed down to an acceptable level.
   2. The model was quite... lacking, to put it mildly. I had to do a lotta things to compensate: angling the prop, retexturing the rear (aka copypasting some of the actually-textured front over its .vtf file), and post-process thingies - those I'll explain in the GIMP section.
3. The aircraft models are, well, the ones used for Echo Fleet back in Borealis event; Hunter-Killers seen in Terminator series. Had to do a material override on 'em, as to give a more hologram-ish appearance (dark materials can't be recolored easily via Color Tool)
4. Lots of lights and lamps (separate things, one puts off light everywhere, and the other in a constrained FOV) which I turned invisible by dropping the opacity value to zero via Color Tool.
5. The hologram viewer in the Michelin Man's hand is a teeeensy tiny, resized version of the Weapon Confiscation model (the one that vaporizes your stuff during the Citadel run of HL2 and supercharges your Gravity Gun).

• GIMP (Hoo boy, this is where the fun begins)

1. Layers.
   • ALL OF THEM.
2. Using the "Spark" brush on the Paintbrush tool, I make lots of tiny, glowy figures with each swipe and tapping of Mouse1. Then, using Motion Blur filter, I angle them in so that it looks like fire swerving from a downward fall. Honestly? Completely experimental, and I probs could've had a better results by getting and editing flame images off of Google.
3. Copypasting each aircraft hologram in a different layer, then using Motion Blur tool on them for, well.. same thing as above - mimicking the blurriness of falling down. I did use a Blur brushing thing as well, for added effect.
4. Tons of different post-processing things on the Borealis itself:
   1. Duplicating it into a new layer, motion blur, regular blur, everything. Lots of it at the bottom to compensate for the lack of, well, bottom on the actual model.
5. Rounding out the hologram displayer (since the original model was hella rectangular), just some simple Cloning stuff (aka replicating the oatmeal armor around it to get the edge off of the thing).
6. Some glowiness to the hologram displayer's core, and some edges and slight overlay to make all the holograms seem like parts of a whole display
7. Last but not least, filling out the shadow beneath marshmallow man's feet; in-game, he shadow is so disjointed, because it cuts off on the glass platform. Pretty simple stuff, just using a semi-transparent Brush tool to fill out the remainder of the elliptical shape of his shadow.

That test last week wasn't so bad. I got 88% on a presentation I did tho.
I got three massive courseworks due in January though and Idk if I have time to do them all.
It's very difficult for me >:v.

Oh well, here goes;

Chose two from the three you posted just because I prefer; they're great angles and have a lot of good in them. Especially for an animation, I recognise sometimes things have to be sacrificed for renders nd that. But the positioning of everything and posing in the second picture is very nice and well done. Especially the two lights on the gate that work very well on illuminating a large part of the image.

Av never played squad but this does look like a stunning depiction of what I've heard. I like that even in these kind of meme'esque posts they still have better model manipulation than most. Like even the one on the guitar is very unique. And the man clinging onto the back is great too. I especially like the camera angle on the truck. Only thing I think is "missing" is maybe some more productive lighting. It all looks really flat you know? I'd almost say shadless. besides that, love it.

It's dark and also terrifying. Like literally dark, I can't see anything but maybe a silhouette of the creature. And I think there's a grenade at the bottom of the picture that's about all I could see. GEt some more colour in here my guy! Don't be afraid that too much light will make something less scary. With the right lighting, you can make anything scary - like hot colours such as red or orange. Or a light from behind. Keep it up, give me something I can SEE, damn you.

Good to hear you experimenting with new mediums, and I didn't know you could mix these resources together like that. The green and sudden darkness actually makes me think this is a depiction of something post the events of REVOLUTION. Like the sphere opening up for a moment and shining in through toxic gases to scour a landscape for something, or someone. Kino. Love it - even though it probably wasn't what you were going for.

There's so much interesting stuff going on in this picture, including the setting of the scene and slug bois. Idk if this is a scenebuild or a map but it's a smart location to use as well. While the lighting is a bit harsh in some places it's all very well placed and thought out. What I LOVE though, is the hologram device showing the Borealis, great layering and effect work there imo. Great stuff.

Ooooh, some more masking and layering work going on here. But I won't lie to you CNS, this feels like a step backwards in terms of layout. You're still putting the pieces together though so I'll give you that. One thing that is good here is the texture work. Like the photo print of Han is great, and the text looks really vintage too. Keep it up buddy.

I love these, I've never really tried out AFX, but I recognise how difficult it probably is. For what these simple animations are, they're super satisfying to look at. I gotta say tho that second one of the spinny square made me feel ill really fast idk why. Probs the motion blur. Can't complain though, keep it up! Hope to see development on this :grinning:)).

Best gif. Woulda been a hella lot cooler if it ended and looped in a satisfying way though.

Wowza, now this is something to behold! The picture is a little cluttered but at the same time not uncomfortable! Has the right things in it and has a kind of Duke Nukem vibe as well which I really like. Adds a funky film adaptation to it. Loving the credits at the bottom as well, but they actually hold my only criticism which is: I woulda made the text more orange personally. But it's a small detail. It's fantastic. Great work!

I'mma be real with you chief, I aint ever played Life is Strange, but I can't deny that there is a lot of good work here! Always wanted to get into 3Ds max and the modelling side of things but just no time. I can't critique it fairly but, this is, very cool. And I hope we get to see some more progress or a finished product soon! Looks like you can do some cool lighting in this software as well... keep it up :^).

You're both winners this time! For your great effort and mixed media usage! :^).
