The Rise:

I must say that I like many others have been caught off guard by the sudden and explosive rise in new Battle Royal style games. Even the mobile game scene is getting in on it. PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds being the most well known and Fortnite being a free cartoon alternative. Undoubtedly these games are a great amount of fun but why? Where did they come from? It is my belief that the game that put these kind of games on the map was the mod DayZ for ARMA II. In fact the games look very similar. As for why they are fun I think it lies in the certain truths that make a good game. First being the sheer diversity of gameplay. Each match can provide a new and invigorating experience. The game provides a decent learning curve. The more you play and study the Map and the best locations to land and loot the better you get. Not to mention the skills one must acquire in combat to be good. How to move on the map. Playing in teams also provides another level of fun. The whispering between teammates as you sneak around looting under the enemy player's noses. The screams of laughter and fear as your friend is being chased and outgunned by another team. The tears of joy when you win and the groans as adrenilen leaves you after a close loss.

The Fall:

For the longest time FPS games have been on top of the gaming world, and still are. Due to their sandbox gameplay, gunplay skills, and fast paced action. However, it is undeniable that they are in a decline. This is undoubtedly due to the laziness of producers, and the infestation by RNG loot crates. Gone are the days of expertly designed developer maps, fun and inventive game modes, and the joy of unlocking weapons and armor through hard work. Now they are just grind fests, dumbed down point and shoot games placed in boring semetrical 3 lane maps. It's sad to see my favorite game franchises continue to disapoint me one year after the other. I believe that the first step in bringing FPS games back is the elimination of RNG loot crate systems.

So what do y'all think? This is just to spike discussion and me expressing my opinions.
