Honestly, I love the server for the interactions - but I hate driving on it. It’s the least satisfying part. Cars are sluggish, and handle like boats. There isn’t a single way to get a car that can remotely compete with cops, so you’re relegated to hoping they fail or are charitable. Lockpicks don’t work on roughly 50% of the vehicles that spawn, so you’re walking around trying to work out which 100mph vehicles you are and aren’t allowed to use. You can’t even buy good cars, so even if you wanted to use a legally obtained car in a chase or for crime, you can’t obtain it anyway.
On the rare occasions that you find a vehicle that hasn’t been nerfed (such as the GoPostal van for lvl 10 deliveries before the centre of gravity seemingly got raised and now it acts like a Reliant Robin any time you drive more than 40mph around a corner), you see what the cars are supposed to act like, supposed to feel like - and it’s great.
I personally think the vehicle system overall needs a HUGE rework, with speed and handling being prioritised. In my opinion, getting around feels like a chore. It’s not possible to own a car you can show off or be proud of, because even if you have the money, there’s no cars to spend it on. It’s not possible to steal a sports car and drive it around, because the lockpick magically doesn’t work.
I could spout off about how this feels like it’s because of cop bias, but I shan’t waste my time with that. Can we all maybe agree that sometimes fun is the most important part?
