i have a super serious case of swimmers ear in my left canal and it's literally entirely blocked shut from the swelling, which means that there's a shit ton of stagnant water in there just fucking breeding and having hot bacterial sex, infecting my ear more.

because it's blocked shut I cant use the prescribed eardrops so theres nothing i can do in that regard

they giving me stronk boyee oral steroids and super crazy souped up painkillers that make me super moody and feel woozy and i cant think straight

I had similar a few months back, have it again at the moment in my right

Dont use cotton buds or anything to clear out the ear that isn't a prescribed medicine like ear drops, you'll push ear wax and the infection further in

Go see your Doctor, they'll swab it and it'll bleed to fuck, but they can determine what sort of infection it is and prescribe you anti-biotics

Sleep on your side, on the ear. This allows discharge to leak out through the night. It's gonna stain your mattress or blankets, so maybe cover that pillow in tissue or smth. Or tape some tissue/toilet paper to your ear, but not in it whilst you sleep.

It takes about 1-3 months to heal up to the point where you can hear. Discharge leaks for a few weeks.

Don't wear any headphones/earphones on that ear, don't cover it up, let it constantly breath

the medicine won't come back out, it's fine

The medicine is mostly to help the swelling go down and to actually help the discharge get out

Your priority isn't getting the medicine out of your ear, it's turning ear wax and infection to discharge to get it out of your ear

I wasn't able to hear anything most days, sometimes i could but it was really muffled

My Doctor said it would take up to 3 months to get my hearing fully back, mine came back around after a month with some bad days where it was tough
