I don't usually wanna get involved w drama but Knight has a point at you're missing it the point is their char is backed ooc by the person's probably strong opinions about the matter and they'd probably take that into their char.

a great deal of characters in the server are self inserts in terms of beliefs, morals, etc
i feel like what gender or sexuality the character is is negligible in that regard

it's a fair to say that if people insert their own characteristics into a game and get upset when that characteristic is criticized ICly it's unhealthy, but afaik that hasn't happened with this person and the fact that it's only getting brought up now shows that that wasn't really knights point, or at least it wasn't made apparent to be

pyromancer's post makes a good point as well

everyone's ripping out on this guy for being a transgender or whatever in game, but i remember a few months back some new guy made a thread discussing the removal of lesbian characters (or just discussing why there were so many, i can't quite remember) and he got absolutely shat on by almost everyone, staff members included
