I mean honestly they always kinda have been; for the longest time it was a meme to kill and abuse them because they daresn't defend themselves or you'd just threaten to PK every vort you could find for being allies. When people realized Vorts could defend themselves when we got the update a nerf was demanded.

It's only recent that people have begun respecting them for helping fight off sweeps.
