How do you want to improve a community without cooperating with the community itself?
Do you know how a collective mind and mentality works? To improve a community you have to work with them so the mentality switches.

As my intro to psych professor would say, "This is NOT how you conduct research!"

This is a horribly-done survey. The issue with self-report is in the lack of accountability on the part of participants to be fully honest in their answers; especially given the nature of these meme material answers on the poll itself. You would honestly be better off doing archival research by collecting already recorded data (e.g, applications and responses) from faction leads and making this whole thing more confidential. That way you'd be able to gauge how many people are accepted or rejected on the basis of their capacity to speak English (which I'm assuming is the hypothesis you're testing here). And even then, correlation does not equal causation so at BEST you'd have a mere speculation in the degree of cause between people with "poor" English (which you'd have to make an operational definition for) and their rejected application. I have a hunch that, given the amount of ESL staff and such in this community, the level of ostracism in factions based on language is next to none. I think it has more to do with 1) how much effort you put into your improvement of writing and 2) your presence in the community -- most prominently, anyways.

TL;DR - This is a bad approach to investigating your hypothesis. P.S, Correlation does not equal causation! :)
