I enjoyed being able to create scenes with props and through that, alter the level design on existing maps to encourage roleplay scenarios. I guess you could call it a sims-syndrome or whatever, I set the stage and observed how people made use of it. I also liked flying around in observer to examine what was going on in the world, in order to setup events to keep players entertained while nothing interesting was happening. My personal favorite was being able to go from person to person, asking them what their characters was about and what they would like to do and help them achieve it. Like I found great joy in helping a guy get setup with a brewery so that his character could become a bootlegger. I guess knowing that you had a personal touch on the events going on in the server, was a big motivating factor for me.

I became an operator on the old WW3RP in 2016 for three reasons

1. Standard desire to help

2. I was shit at s2k but I loved watching others shoot the fuck out of each other

3. I loved/love doing mini events on the main server, I felt like it gave people a break from the standard s2k mentality of WW3RP, offering a real chance to develop a character

i dont think id be the same man i am today actually if it werent for it, genuinely affected me a lot as a person as i was staff during a big transition period in my personal life

I mainly joined staff to help the server out and it was quite fun while it lasted

I also had a lot of ideas for events, but failed to go through with them as I tend to overthink shit way too much

What were your motivations for being staff?: To help people. I found that at the time of applying, help requests were a big complaint from the people I spoke to on ts n stuff.

Parts that are fun or rewarding: I guess being able to lead the vort faction because I know without staff I most likely would have never gotten the position.

Also just getting ‘thanks for helping’ pms is always rewarding.

It was mainly because I enjoyed helping people out, even sometimes going on at 2 am (for me) to help a nibbas out. It was fun, to say at the least. Although at the end I found it to be more of a job than an obligation, and thus my years of GMod staffing stopped.
