being able to lead the vort faction because I know without staff I most likely would have never gotten the position

also, being a lead without staff powers makes things a significant amount harder when it comes to hands-on stuff like log digging to find names etc.

it's still doable though just harder

What were your motivations for being staff?:

Wanted to help the server and run events.

Are any parts of it fun or rewarding? What are they?:

There's some fun to be had, but I think an issue lots of people had (and have) in the team is taking things way way too harshly. Can't speak for now, but when I was there, you had a small sect of staff who'd lift the majority of the weigh (folks like doubled, fielders, etc) and some who just sat on their positions.

It was fun when I started, but I got so caught up in trying to keep people happy it felt more like an obligation, causing me a fuckton of stress after a while. I much prefer dropping staff to do event team stuff, and wish I had been offered such much sooner, as being part of the team isn't something I could recommend for most people.

Despite some people doing fuck all work, the team was a solid group of cunts, only had like 1 - 2 people acting out and they'd always get dealt with, most people felt quite friendly and chilled to talk to.

Best bit of staff was the feeling you got when you sorted people's issues out, but I think it's infinitely more fulfilling to actively make events than sit there for hours on end on a staff char getting swamped with !helps.

I might as well answer for when I was a ww3rp OP.

It was generally because I wanted to be more active in WW3RP and have a more engrained experiance with the staff and playerbase as a whle. I remember setting up events at 3AM and testing them out on an FT sized playerbase then basing large S2K events around them the next day of basically just a repeat of the same event. I liked testing proof of concepts on small player groups who wouldn't be online during the day and give them a lot of char development. I get a sense a lot of enjoyment at watching people enjoy something I created, and that was a big part of why I joined the staff team, I wanted to create something and I wanted people to enjoy it.

I'd just emphasise that the staff need to talk and be more firm with players who do cause trouble, I often felt like the bad guy in a lot of cases because I was the only staff member who would confront certian individuals. I remember one case where a staff member outright asked me to ban someone because he didn't want to have his name on the ban for his reputation, the same player was being considered being banned from Nebulous entirely and there was no back/forth communication for it, no warnings or real reprimands. I think people just need to have others interests as well as their own at heart and understand the staff team are just trying to do what they want to do in the players interests.

didn't you ban three people because they tried to climb out of a pit with a dumpster after being stuck in it for close to an hour

This was said incident. And it was 1 person, not 3. And they were there for about 5-10 minutes, not an hour.
