Guess I might fall under that banner, I played stalker SoC throughout without mods.
Of course, for me the appeal of stalker games was that I was typically just as vulnerable as my enemies, so it made combat all the more close and exciting when an ambush worked or you barely pull yourself out of a gun fight.
