Because the previous map was set in Switzerland.

Event is on gm_boreas

Because it's the best map to emulate the Alps.

Event is ran in a post occupation HL2RP setting

Because CityRP as a mainstay formula has been done to literal death.
+ Combine still occupies the planet. Right now it's literally one City destroyed (C17) and another liberated (C24).

Event is different because it focuses on internal conflict and survival in harsh conditions rather than dealing with the Combine

Because snowy mountain range is ideal for survivalRP.
+ People want a change of pace from the extreme amounts of fighting in previous map.
+ Rebels are still dealing with the Combine, why else would they go hiking to get closer to the Citadel?

I cannot wait for the event to end with a climactic reveal of the ball with weird gravity underneath the map followed up with by /localevents of cool stuff

People have already come across the ball and have gotten ample warnings about touching it. Obviously it's going to be used for the story, otherwise it'd be a waste.

A problem with timers like that is they don't account for people who are activity rping outside, rather, just walking around. So I agree, it being off is a good idea.

Promotes rushed/no RP when outside more than anything.
