that sort of thing does happen IC a lot over radio channels and /yells, and while yes IC hostility is absolutely permitted, sometimes the way people type and the lengths they take it just seem like they're trying to sneak in OOC antagonism that they wouldn't have been able to get away with openly, which is still a problem whether or not it's 'technically' allowed

There isn't much that can be done about that, and it also doesn't help that people are emotionally invested in there characters, which can lead them to be annoyed/angry when something negative happens leading to things like that.

the solution to the issue I brought up and ARK did about the people taking their time with typing and the way they are typing is asking them to not be emotionally invested in their character which we literally cant do anything other then ask them not to

we have an obvious, immediate and clear cut problem of one side's leadership playing as wooden cutouts to the point they fuck over actual characters in both factions for the sake of stroking their egos and being spiteful arseholes. no reason to care when they hold their position no matter what, be it OOC fuck up, harassment or character death.

going "oh well, people shouldn't be invested in a character..." is a complete cop out in the face of that, though.

emotional investment in your character has nothing to do with wanting to have a laugh at the other side's expense. i've gotten carried away with my own characters before but never once channeled it into something like this - and i've seen some really competitive people here manage to be fair to the 'other side' whenever they were able to actually have dialogue with them, while still playing hard in-character

i dont think your diagnosis is correct; the problem isn't like that and neither is the solution. it's rarely this simple, but it's not unsolveable.

i will just say this - i've had a chance to be on both sides of this and one of the main driving aspects of OOC competitiveness is that its something that occurs on both sides

some rebel circles, particularly the ones that care about being efficient at s2k, continuously hurl taunts at the combine faction based on s2k that seem to have out of character roots and there seems to be no way for it to end with mutual respect. if the combine lose, they're often mocked for it, and if they ever happen to win, complaints of the game being unbalanced flood us in short order - until such a time we tweak things to swing it back in their favor, and the ridiculing starts again

the only way to prevent the faction from being reduced to punching bags under that kind of treatment is to appoint people who can put up a fight in s2k to the important positions

this is not to say there aren't people on combine side who won't try to instigate the same insipid back and forths - but it is easier to moderate these behaviors in a whitelisted faction than the other way around. but that's not going to happen until the other side makes it easy

there needs to be more sportsmanship on both sides. more "damn, we got fucked" and "shit, you got us good." people who try to ridicule their own faction members or the opposing side for underperforming in laggy cs go replica need to get out - there's a reason we stopped putting an emphasis on s2k to influence the story

i think appointing s2k mains to important positions just exacerbates this problem though, especially with all the stuff listed in this thread

If you looked over my previous comments here instead of skipping pages, you would know I am calling out specific individuals within that leadership.

Yes, I could say 'parts of the leadership' but I've made a dozen posts already with the specifics and having to rephrase everything for the fifth time is a chore.

Actually, I have personally interacted with the very people I'm calling out here, on multiple characters. Some of them do the exact same things despite being on their second or third character by now.

also yea rebels are also toxic sometimes, but i think thats mostly just a side effect of cultivating like half a decade of cop vs rebel mutual resentment. some cop mains have literally being playing for that entire time. when u still have ppl posting clips of haha'ing on dead refugees (zethes guys have probably created more rp than anyone in that pt) or massacring people who are passive rping idk whats to be expected
