It has been a long time since I have written in a journal. Not since the crew was betrayed disbanded. I think I'm in my mid to late 30s now but it all blurs together. After we "got legal" getting paperwork and registered in the cities wouldn't you know it the fucking citadel in 17 blew. Signaling an uprising. The family always said it would only take one real spark and the uprising would begin in urnest. No more hit and run raids on small convoys in the badlands. Proper war. A proper rebellion. Just my fucking luck the Spades disbanded shortly before. Boris woulda fuckin loved this.
Got transferred to City 24 not long after it all started. Figured I would lay low at first given how the siege was going. Didn't know how these rebs operated. Joined up with the engineer corps. Met a man named Winston Smith. Can't tell who the guys loyaltys really belong to. Said the winning side but..he must know something I don't cause humanity is one stubborn species and the rebs certainly seem capable after speaking to a few of em. He looked after me and the others, but..I am prepared to do what I have to if it comes down to it. That is if our paths cross again. Going my own way now that the city has been taken. I have work to do. I've made some friends. Some allies. The Spades will be rebuilt. Helping those who can't help themselves. Becoming the ace in the hole if needed.
I just hope the other engineers make the right choice. Mei, Roxanne, William. All of em. Good folk who deserve a good life. Even if they ain't fighters they will have a place with me. I got plans. I will need not just fighters if I want things to go well. Hell...if I see that CP who gave me a heads up..they would be welcome to. Next stop...well wherever the war leads me next.
