believe it or not, antagonizing your saviors who are armed with rifles, submachine guns and assault rifles when you're a borderline starved out escapee convict who is barely scraping by isn't a realistic portrayal of character for a lot of people

did it dawn on you guys, that people don't necessarily play hyper macho/script driven/ fantasy land characters?

it was a half a joke but at the same time, if im starving the fuck to death, rebels have limited supply of food and the nearest thing to drink is some rebel-owned pipes,

im gathering some buddies, some clubs and going to fight for a piece and take it as an ic issue rather than log off after standing around with my rifle waiting for the next event and supply and complain about very real necessities on the forums bro !

but its just a game at the end of the day so i dont much care as long as me and my peeps having fun making most of situations

But people put effort into portraying characters that aren't like that - sometimes staying true to the character you are playing means not doing what the game wants you to do, because its more realistic for you not to

Playing a brazen dude who just decides to take up arms against the only people who's got his back in the middle of a sea of sand and hostile alien life just doesn't sit with me personally - doing stuff purely because you are trying to have fun will look dumb or out of place for a lot of people (in my opinion)

me thinks its completely realistic, the land and attacks are enough considering historical events like pontiac's war where natives banded together to fight colonists and soldiers and stuffs

as long as youre having fun at the end of the day - its a game, brother, not some cinematic, beautifully illustrated and written story that you need to be a perfectly realistic character with everything sound and fleshed out, sacrificing any life or fun for the sake of being some background piece in the rebel's plot

im remaining true to a naturally hostile character that i've been portraying, so it's both fun and i think realistic that ma dude (lord bo, azov local who came into leading clan by combat), would want to antagonize rebel groups who are occupying his people's once-was land, causing increased combine attacks, and hogging the food and drink

me thinks its completely realistic, the land and attacks are enough considering historical events like pontiac's war where natives banded together to fight colonists and soldiers and stuffs

as long as youre having fun at the end of the day - its a game, brother, not some cinematic, beautifully illustrated and written story that you need to be a perfectly realistic character with everything sound and fleshed out, sacrificing any life or fun for the sake of being some background piece in the rebel's plot

I personally have a hard time seeing the serious nature of an Afro-American Japanese shogunate clan inspired character and group in the middle of the drained black sea in Ukraine

portraying a grounded character with motivation beyond hostility and violence is a lot more nuanced and entertaining than a 1 dimensional character who acts purely by antagonism

But that's just my opinion, and I can't prevent people from doing what they want

Yeah like, antagonizing is cool if its done for a reason and grounded in reality - it has its place and can add a lot of depth and spice

but if its the only thing you know how to do, its boring

also kinda feels a bit shit to assume i only antagonize and remain hostile when ive made efforts to interact with groups like orsted on alliances, some groups for my hostile because breeding conflict is good for rp and so on - and i keep my clan open as to give opportunity to newbies to be apart of something and have rp objectives because some rebels keep their groups tight on the members they ooc recruited beforehand, half ma group r prisoners who i recruited for riots, other half are refugees who got turned away from other groups, or ones who werent having fun just sitting around

i just make fun, id sacrifice realism to play a game as intended, for entertainment - we live in a world of aliens bro

I'm purely going off of appearances and what you've said yourself

Portraying a realistic, rounded character relative to the setting is an inherent part of RP - but we must have different ideas of what is supposed to take place in an RP environment

But you can do what you want man, I'm not telling you to stop - I'm just saying that I find it silly and that it's not for me

overall no complaints from the running of the event, i've had no issues from that side but i've been popping in and out so i can't really offer a fully detailed criticism, but on the currently discussed topic, some of the characters feel WAY too zany and unserious and it's just jarring to witness - i'm in agreeance with @Ond that i'm not suggesting for a complete blanket ban, but some ppl should really step back and realize we're not rping a vine compilation

yes, there was a group that was vying for larger rebel control but had little to no rp quality assurances in check, which made them do goofy shit

as a result I've denied their application to be a supplied "rebel group" and let them do their own thing without being a core element of roleplay on the server

no offense to its leaders, it's just that the group was so big on start that you inevitably have these problems happen, and if it's not manageable for them in this trial period, they shouldn't be a mainstay big group

I like when people play a character you know exists to be zany or wacky. When you have the distinction and you can immediately tell it's a good time cause it lets you cut loose for a moment or two to do something you may normally not do, or otherwise miss the opportunity to do (such as by playing the same character for an entire day)

Personally my biggest gripe is people who try to be zany-serious instead of just zany-zany. There's a limit and bdb does it well, you know from the desc and the way he carries himself it's for lifting your spirits and taking a break.
Just not a real fan of people who want to maintain a serious character that has zany qualities, it sometimes resembles someone who can't read social cues and they can interrupt serious rp going down.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought this was supposed to be a wacky wasteland apocalypse?

I've been critical of BDB in terms of his roleplay, but he's out here creating stuff and giving people roleplay situations to deal with. All in all, he's a producer of roleplay. He may be 'zaney' and not 100% as serious as I am, but to be honest, I find myself pigeon-holing myself to specifics of my character that prevent me from doing things I may want to do OOC that may be more fun.
