Vortigaunts are proving incredibly powerful at long-distance combat. I think I scored my first ever Hunter kill as a result of the line of sight - and cover - I got from atop this rock.

And some of us greenies even scored kills on the lot at the lighthouse. How something like this could be balanced remains a tricky question, since the Combine don't have a lot of counters besides just sending bigger Synths - but those kind of counter everybody.

Vorts after sniping some poor bastard balancing on the edge of the game's fucking render distance in buttfuck nowhere:

cool event but rebel victory seemed forced.

we had stopped their initial advance, completed the lighthouse, and then spotted the rocket truck

instead we were told to pull back and when we eventually were told to go back in, we made it to the lighthouse, and were locked out and weren't allowed in while the vorts blew it

Quite the eventful night. We got a lot done, but I must confess that I felt a bit neglected a few times. Which is understandable, lotta people with their own thing going on, but I ultimately felt like I would've gotten more done by sticking to the metaphorical herd. Everything before the teleportation was whatever, but afterwards, I definitely felt like the odd one out.

We teleport into lighthouse with the music swelling up, and my first instinct is to sabotage whatever's in my reach. I give an electro-hug to the technopillar sprouting at the center, then realize there's a super synth right behind it. We get a clue that we must ascend, and as per my homie's instructions, I decide to venture up while they deal with the synth. Again, thinking that getting things done depends on seconds of action, I start electrostuff on the console I see at the top of the lighthouse.

Wrong move again, there's a core further above that gets described when the rest of the vorts get up. I get the impression that its energy source must be severed, so I decide to go for the Arc controls.
Wrong move again, again! I was supposed to siphon the energies of the core with the rest of the vorts, and use it to teleport back. Teleport because... the lighthouse was destroyed, but not quite? The Arc is still there, but it seems like neither side really won at the end.

All in all, I had every intent to contribute, but it seems I kept reading the room wrong time and time again. It feels a bit disheartening, albeit the fact we made progress and all the neat RP regardless does make it a net positive.
Edit: I don't meant to sound all pessimistic. It was nonetheless quite the spectacle to be part of.

yeah, vortigaunts were in there far earlier but were stuck in roleplay so it was a lot of timescale issue, small problem when u have s2k on the outside but rp inside

trust me though you did not want to rush inside

real greenboys miss 90% of their shots because you can't aim electricity
i just thought of how funny it would be to play a vortigaunt and intentionally miss every shot, merely pretending to be a power multiplier in combat

miss headcrabs and antlions too

omg somebody please do this.

At first I missed everything because even one day away from the essence was enough to cause a lapse
then I missed everything because I was tired in-character
Now I shall miss everything beyond 25m as reparations for the vort snipers from finis coronat opus

Cool to see a recounting from the other side. It was a little weird and shit for us on the CP side. We pull out, only to return to the Lighthouse during the climax. We find out we can't get in and not even Overwatch have charges so it sucked.

Planned on executing a coup though. Had a contingency of Officers on stand-by in case anything happened when the RL's were having a meeting of some kind.

THEY DIE! WE DIE!
