For future reference, I'd like to know if Vortigaunts can actually damage APCs. Up until now, I've treated things like striders, choppers, gunships and dropships as the staff OOCly telling me "Okay dude, time to back off", since I know for certain that they cannot be damaged. APCs are kind of a question mark in that regard. I have no idea if they take damage from anything besides explosives, and going off the first impression, they are given carte blanche to drive as close up in the rebels' faces as they desire.

tl:dr; Firsthand experience, preconceptions and lack of information give me mixed signals how I'm supposed to react to APCs as a Vortigaunt.

As far as I know only explosives damage the APC's & Synths for the moment because they're weirdly coded otherwise and take like literally two pistol rounds before dying lmao

But Numbers has said rebels are gonna get heavy weaponry to fight them, so there's that I guess.

Would be very nice for the aesthetics if we could disable Stormfox, it seems to ruin my FPS and bathe the map in darkness with little benefit to graphics.

In that case, it would be good decorum to not have APCs barreling through the hundred meter gap between Resistance and Combine to roadkill rebels after they've clearly taken themselves out of the firefight. Personally it's kind of whatever since vorts don't lose much in a fight, but I've seen rebels get frustrated over the navy-blue-death-fridge coming in for a point-blank whack without any ability to counter it.

Issue with this is we make actual use of the fog. There are some details like rain that can be disabled iirc.

Trust me, what @TommyGman has been able to work out with SF2 is insane and far more aesthetic than the previous build. Compare vanilla map and on-server version. I'm pretty sure a lot of functions can be toggled in SF2, however allowing it to be disabled would cause a major and unfair advantage to those turning it off, as they wouldn't then be affected by the changes the addon brings. The darkness is a little limiting I gotta admit, which is why I built the roads on the rebel side, always lit up.

My recommendation is looking for an optimized Autoexec CFG that enables multithreading etc, also running on the x86x64 Branch.

I'm not gonna tell you how much because it'd be self-sabotage but the APC did get damaged

I'm not comparing the vanilla map against the server, I am comparing the gmod fog-editor (alongside the better FX addon) against Stormfox, go try editing something similar up, I think the performance hit is not worth it and would like to disable the addon tbh

I agree that ramming people with APCs should be rare and I think it’ll being happening less going forward

I feel like rebels are sort of falling back into their old ways at least from my observations

My hopes were generally that the resistance would be more of a unified force, and seeing as how resistance is now the default for any new player the way people generally act is disappointing

The weird gear caste system is returning where a players worth is decided by what they are wearing and what weapons they have equipped. Every single character aside from one that I've made so far has been a bluesuit (the exception being a char with some medic BGs).

Rebels tend to ignore bluesuits, I've tried talking with them a bunch of times, base and away only to be met with a blank stare before they run off to look at a container, change their bodygroups or to interact with their clique, and maybe I haven't been around enough but I very rarely encounter actual character conversations (by that I mean that a majority of conversations are about gear or something of the sorts instead of discussions about the characters themselves)

Vorts were usually the go-to for these kinds of things but I've been treated the same by a few (AKA people treating vorts like rebels with built in guns, most are cool though)

My point is there is just no passive roleplay on that side, unless its to further their own goals, I constantly walk into the base just to see people standing around AFK and what few convos there are are people talking about guns or gear or their next planned excursion or complaints in looc

Earlier today there was a crate that people retrieved from some sort of event with ammunition and weapons and I saw a dude with a rifle and some weird blacksuit model barter for another gun and ammunition for like five minutes, the dude then whinged about it for the next thirty minutes on the radio begging for another gun (thankfully people told him to shut up but christ)

While that was going on, someone who I'm guessing was a LAMBDA event char based on their description was trying to roleplay on the radio, asking about another character, trying to create some roleplay and he didn't get a single response. A majority of these armoured rebels have a radio, there's a radio inside the base itself and I was like the only person who answered and asked about it further.

The only time they seem to activate is again when there's some sort of benefit or goal to them, or when there's some sort of conflict so they can go out and shoot

My point was that citizen RP was focused on passive RP and characters themselves in the previous iterations, I'm not sure what's going on in the Union side right now but when I used to play CP you used to get a lot of that when there was down-time too. There's just none of that on the rebel side

There is no race for gear, consequences for failure are pretty much null, I don't get why people still act like this

Was off today (lil break) but yeah that sounds about right. I've tried to include bluesuits in stuff whenever I could, it's just there too frequently is that script-heavy mindset.

Admittedly, I'm a bit script-hungry in searching for stuff, but I mostly give any large excess away to other people

Just to add to that. When I decided to kill off Atticus because of the way the rebels are going. When I wanted to go out fighting the Gonarch. I had four people following me waiting for me to die so they could grab my gear and when challenged they said "No lol" and continued to follow me so instead I lured the Combine from their cliff in hopes the fuckers died in the process.

It's incredibly sad to see.

that was me yeah the response was somewhat disappointing, i did end up getting a reply ultimately so i was fine tho

i havent personally noticed much of everything else ur saying but i'd probably put it down to everybody being excited about the new gear meta, it'll settle down as time goes on

i'd argue against ppl ignoring bluesuits cus ive personally seen rebels bringing bluesuits into rp left right and center

ofc there's always gonna be bad apples tho that cant be helped

I been recommending blue suits to the heads to get sized up and it's gone well but I'm one out of the hundreds playing

Full disclosure I've turned people away from being healed if they're wack about it though. People will be like 'ay you got magic heal me' like no dude
Hopefully stuff planned now can alleviate some of the rebel downtime with passive
