unemployed mfs at 3am on a Tuesday:
but seriously

some of us need to actually wake up for things I have no idea why this has suddenly become the norm

even the fact that no one’s getting on before stupidly late is weird but events at midnight?? stupid

idk why but i feel like people stay even later on weekdays than on weekends

Some of us work nights like Me and @Vaz , some of us have to be up early for school or work. We just aren't the young and energetic we used to be, I'm lucky if I do get on, where does all the time go, but yeah it's just the fact that a lot of us aren't the young teens or kids of hl2rp we once were.

You can do some events too. You’re event team no?

But tbh I don’t know when this happened but for some reason the active timezone switched to East coast, which is weird cause I don’t think there’s that many Americans on

Not feeling a lot of incentives to flag up early with the whole pendulum effect returning in full force.
"But Tinbe, you're just perpetuating the pendulum effect. Be the change you want to see in the world!"
No.
If going outside as a vort with three (out of six currently flagged-up) rebels and having a non-s2k encounter with a four-man cop patrol is always going to result in them getting half a dozen cops and three OTA as backup like it did yesterday, I'm not even going to bother.

From my understanding your friends had guns aimed at the cops and they didn't immediately shoot you and instead gave ample opportunity for you to leave, but you attempted to (as a vortigaunt who has killed dozens of cops) engage in casual conversation as your fellow rebels aim their guns at the cops.

Obviously that team is going to call back-up when they are out numbered and a vortigaunt is there. You can't expect cops to just talk to you casually as a vortigaunt, especially when you have a bunch of other people with you aiming guns.

There's a lot to unpack about what happened, so I'll try my best to parse how it all happened from my point of view.
-Me and three rebels partake in what looks like a minievent
-APC drives right past us without incident, making me think maybe every encounter doesn't have to lead to a shootout
-Small cop patrol appears, standoff begins (obviously, both sides are too far to yell at each other and it's kinda even numbers)
-Minievent guy tries to mediate and I keep getting my hopes up
-I think to myself "Maybe we can move along from each other without an incident."
-Your abundant backup comes over
-Rebels behind me run off while I'm confused as fuck (though I did tell them to do that while trynna process what's going on)
-Decide to make an /itl to signal I'm running so nobody can complain I ran off without RP
-Dead from s2k

Lesson learned I guess.

The cop team made it clear they weren't open to speaking to you guys from my understanding. They told you to leave, had guns raised, etc. and gave over fifteen minutes for you to turn and leave but the minievent guy kept trying to speak to them despite the repeated and persistent warnings. I understand and appreciate how he might have been trying to involve cops in the event, but you can't expect cops to take having guns aimed at them in a good way.

The other rebels seemed to have got the message and ran off, but like you said, you stayed and got into conflict.

They told you to leave
Not sure if I caught that, I don't remember any of them stuff like the "Move back" VCs
had guns raised
Everybody had their guns raised, so this didn't really strike me as a warning sign. Well, I didn't have my SWEP out, so I was plainly in idle standing animation the entire time.
gave over fifteen minutes for you to turn and leave
And we were doing the same, because we figured you'd be courteous and not try to shoot us when there were like six rebels on the server.
The other rebels seemed to have got the message and ran off
I don't have eyes at the back of my head, unfortunately, and seeing what looked like the entire Combine faction online at the moment rolling up baffled me long enough for everybody behind me to run away.

But yeah, lesson learned has been learned now, not going to bother going outside the bunker when it's early hours.

Well, unfortunately, you took a gamble in assuming that the cop team would back down rather than call backup.

The other rebels got the message and left, you didn't, and you died. It's unfortunate, but the patrol team chose to give you a chance to leave due to the low rebel population and the fact that you were in an event and you chose to stay and died.

itt both teams giving each other the chance to leave and neither taking it, instead escalating the scene and causing an inevitable s2k shootout yet again

and then blaming the opposing side

We wanted to try to capture you, hence why we called for backup, as we couldn't get close to you when we were equally matched. I don't blame you for running away to be fair, though if you had done it earlier you probably would've lived

maybe im just not trying hard enough to find shit to do but i haven't really seemed to enjoy this map very much

any time i get on it seems to be one of two things;

1) ppl standing around
2) ppl defending entrypoints cus combine near

and i have to admit im not a big fan of the fog

like yeah make the map dangerous as shit sure but the entire premise of 'u cant see 4 feet in front of you' gets boring very very quickly
