It likely occurs for the inverse effect, Fog means rebels have less long-range options making patrols more appealing and hence patrols happen when fog gets turned up.

So it's not
patrol -> fog gets turned up

but
fog gets turned up -> patrol
you're acting like the weather is an organic sequence, like real weather, when in reality it's a person with their own biases and intentions controlling it. many times on boreas the fog was turned up right before a scheduled raid, and now that the combine is in control of the agora, an area that is particularly vulnerable to sniper fire, the decision was made to enable fog 24/7, but when rebels were in control, it was decided to keep it off 99% of time. i wonder what the biases of the staff team are, curious.

I cannot speak for other staff members, like in this circumstance, as to their reasoning for why or when they perform these actions. However, in that post, I responded to the claim/observations that patrols usually happen shortly after fog gets turned up and I proposed one of the reasons that observation might be well, observed. (A.k.a because fog makes patrols more appealing)

E: As for when Agora, we had a staff meeting last Saturday where various factors where discussed. I'd be strained to remember every single topic but if you see significant change it might be why it occurred.

Regardless, I'll look into the happenings and figure out who and why did it to make sure it wasn't done under malicious pretense.

This is just not true, at least not all the time:

@FieldersNL and I were sniping cops outside of the Radar Station in Boreas when there was 0 fog present. Cut to one or two cop deaths later, and the fog promptly rolls in out of nowhere, in the blink of an eye. This is not the only time this has happened.

In regards to the current circumstance, perhaps through my believing in good faith, I deduce it was done without malicious intent and was a mere coïncidence. I've figured out that it was @Trains who controlled the fog in this situation and talked to them regarding the circumstances and results to come to this conclusion so if you've got any more questions you could direct them to him but as I said, I see no evidence of bias being involved.

while on top of the villa, just scouting, a couple of us were watching OTA/combine movements when suddenly the fog was cranked up to 100%, and rain was turned on. a few moments later, we were swarmed by OTA and fucked.

(fog was already on before)
hey i was the guy you were talking to about shooting the ota patrol and at no point did i disclose to anyone why i was asking, i responded because i was specifically asked by you guys to come and answer the question, and i replied because i was not close enough to the fight to have made an impact

the abuse of weather to give one side or the other an unfair advantage has gotta stop
I turned on the rain and then later the stronger rain. Somebody else also playing a rebel character turned on the fog.

Nobody was abusing the weather, we just turned it on for some atmosphere, I wasn't even aware OTA were patrolling, in fact I turned the rain on just as cops were coming to the village for passive. You died in one S2K engagement, it happens. Don't immediately jump the abuse angle just because you got unlucky.

Wait, you're telling me the server's staff aren't knowingly, maliciously, methodically watching every possible engagement ten minutes in advance so they can decide the exact best millisecond to fuck over one side of a wholly imaginary division in the playerbase with the weather, thus further facilitating a years-long, grandiose conspiracy to foster abuse and bias in the community?

... nah, I don't buy it, sorry dude.

see the issue with this is that ww3rp has set a precedent that turbo-autists will genuinely do this and then brag about doing this
