ok I learnt through this guide that:
-each player on the server increases enemy hp by 40%
Which explains why bonemass had UNBELIEVABLE strong hp, with 2 out of combat players

Lock 'm in a cage, feed them mushrooms (I haven't had luck with berries but maybe I'm not patient enough). They'll go through a 0-100% acclimatizing face and when it reaches 100% it's tamed and so long as it's fed it will make babies. Although there does seem to be a maximum amount of babies per area.

In the safe biome, forgot what it is called. You can find stones with text on them (in red), press E on these stones and some of them will tell you how to tame boars (Albeit slightly cryptic)

build a pen
get them after you
bring them into pen
feed berries and mushrooms (make sure to walk away a they dont seem to eat if youre too close)
over time you'll tame them

See we've been killing most of the ones we come across and it seems like they don't spawn as frequently
