do things yourself, don't rely on some fatigue wearing desk jockey, or some shotgun wielding merchant to give you stuff

grab a few shipments, open a store, get a gang together, make some bombs, take drugs kill a bear

i had a great guide up on taking initiative and it was well received but i snipped it out of spite for some reason. some drunken rage i guess

I've been trying to gather a group or even just have "friendship" with like-minded individuals. All the characters I see are random-ass half-baked copies of the actual person roleplaying. 2D Loyalist Lesbians who don't want to talk or some citizens which are simply too fucking good for player interactions (wait on plaza bench, get new ration repeat.)
The only fucking way out I see is to get some OOC mates of yours to start a group - but that fucking sucks. It's just blatant metagaming.
The most RP I've had was during work shifts or just roleplaying with people I know OOC... which- well isn't a good reflection of the roleplay present on the server.
Although the roleplay quality isn't that bad, there is next to no emergence; it seems as if you need to apply to have a good experience.

I mean I literally help make a group that still exists today with the boys when I didn't know them OOC before we met up IC and got something rolling. Sure, not everyone is hunting to do the same thing anymore but it can be done, even if you have to chat to people and kinda set something up to get the ball rolling.

Honestly, I'll level with you - you probably won't get far if you rely 100% on IC stuff. People have different characters, people may stop playing, etc. It becomes a headache without any OOC effort after the first hurdle.

yeah I get what you mean, it isn't really easy to find folks, especially if you want to do city-side based rebelRP

also yeah, I mean I deffo recommend just looking out for folk who are decent at that kind of roleplay, there's more than you might think but at the same time I'm only speaking from when the server reset and turned to Helix, when there was already people trying to get into and start the rebel scene again, now that we're a few months in and folk are established it's gonna be a tad harder to find other folk trying to start up groups

if you enjoy rp with folks you know OOC more than you have with people you've encountered IC only, then that's fair enough, not everyone's the same and most folk do stick to a kind of clique for a reason

I partially disagree... Although 99% of the servers have the same issue there are, or rather, were some diamonds in the rough.
Here's the problem, there's no real recipe for empowering citizen and rebel roleplay, and it'd be especially hard to do so with a community the size of nebulous. There's a certain trait a server loses when it becomes huge- player freedom. When a community is well-developed it's hard to get to the core, it's hard to really get a taste of the experience, you feel me?

create a melee weapon. a shiv requires a glass bottle and 2 cloth. u get a glass bottle from drinking wine and the cloth from buying a pouch or a bag and destroying it.

start a gang to keep pesky bluesuits and retards away from you.

grind materials with ur gang until u have enough to craft a pistol or armor

shotcop until you have enough supplies to last u a lifetime

tip 1: dont listen to people saying to take initiative or staying ic. Nobody wants to rp with a bluesuit whos probably gonna get pked within an hour or so.

tip 2: tokens dont have as much worth as they used to be, but they can be used to buy supplies that can get you materials.

tip 3: add a crafter on steam and bug them to get on if u need something crafted.
