it's not my call to say really

i take initiative for my own projects, but it's not my business to do that for the entire community, i am not staff

neb is a community as flawed as anywhere else, different problems sure, most of the time, but problems nonetheless and people around here need to commit themselves to some serious plan of action

as it stands, this community has no right to judge, and no right to say "this community should do this or that", the title of this thread is a discussion about the future of willard networks, but our time would be better spent thinking about our own community and what can be done to help ourselves

Strangely enough, the context it's being used in is one of the very few contexts where that word's correct.

So you'll almost never see it be used outside of the law or for measurements. (i.e. The persons responsible for X's death have been found guilty of 2nd Degree Murder; this elevator can handle a maximum of 500kg/7 persons)

persons is a real word i used to watch fox crime with my mom a lot and they used to use it a lot for the age warnings like "this show isn't recommended for persons under the age of x" so yeah i can attest to its existence

People refers to a group indiscriminately, being a collective noun. It's used when referring to multiple individuals that're lumped into one group.

Persons, however, refers to a number of individuals that're categorized as individuals.

10 people is just 10 instances of humans, and doesn't really bother with discerning anything specific about those people; typically they're grouped together under being human, and that's that.

However, 10 persons refers to 10 individuals, categorized as individuals, under a specific understanding of an individual. For measurement, it could refer to the average height/weight of a person (i.e. 1 person = 75kg est. ergo 10 persons = 750kg capacity) or if those persons have committed a crime (i.e. the 5 persons charged with possession and distribution of drugs are under police custody).

Though casually, you can use the word 'people' and those around you'll get the gist and understand. Persons is more for the specifics with regards to legality, since it could end up creating loopholes if you use 'people' rather than persons.
