Not really. You don't need to buy a very expensive gpu for VR, even a gtx 1050 ti ( can suffice for VR (even though it's not VR ready), or buy an RX 570/580.( 130/160 euros). You can easily make a VR ready pc for less than 600 euros.
Mine, RX 570, runs VR at high quality with at no point the fps dropping below 90 (average fps about 115)

Most VR headsets are basically designed to "work" with non-optimal parts to my knowledge, it just really depends that your PC isnt 'That' (2010 and below tech)

one big fear about buying any headset is just playing HL:A and just stopping playing entirely. I mean, pretty much only reason why I want a vr headset right now is HL:A. Don't know many other vr games except for pavlov and beatsaber

Boneworks comes out next month, it's something that was made inspired by Half-Life
H3VR is a good pick too, probably has the most content stuffed into any VR game, as it's been updated for over two years.

Hmm, yeah, I see. I also, just now, remembered that subnautica supports VR (an already extremely fun game), minecraft, gmod (to some extent), hl2: update, vr chat, ect. I think it could be fun but I gotta think about it. Dropping 400 on a headset is pretty risky

Black Friday does exist in the UK, but it's not nearly as big of a thing as the US. closest you'll find here is just a sudden increase in Amazon purchases

Valve's kinda pushing for that, they know more people will pick up VR so they can play the new Half Life game
if more people adopt VR because of Half Life devs wont be afraid to develop more VR focused or compatible games, even if it ups to 3% or 2% then itll become an audience they can begin to cater to without fearing not even breaking even, whichll encourage VR purchases even more and so on and so forth
