If we're going to do a faction styled WW3RP server, as opposed to the initial concept of Stasiland with a civilian focus, then we should really amp up the horrific angle of the war.
A thing I didn't like about the old iterations, and even Stasiland when NATO eventually got added, was how folk would rush out to get a quick S2K fix and ignore most IC involvement in the process, it didn't really feel like warfare so much as it was a reskinned Halo match or something.
Now I'm not saying shove babies in washing machines, but show the effects of war on the local area, use maps with destroyed infrastructure, scatter minefields around, make PKs a very real possibility under the right circumstances, make the chances of being permanently wounded even more likely, regular bombing runs could be a thing and so on. The atmosphere of the setting is very important, without it we see a lot less roleplay.
Also, might be worthwhile using the actual armed forces of whatever nation we're stationed in this time. Yeah Soviets are cool and all, but if you want to bring a little more roleplay to the table, bring in the idea of having countrymen have to shoot at one another, another layer of drama on top of it all, could allow for backstabbing and defections on either side. Kinda hard to do that when you don't even share the same language, nevermind the same nation or culture.
Also uh, we probably don't need a very massive map either. Fork was too big, not enough hubs. Should be going for something akin to the Battle of Grozny, intense urban fighting.
