have we ever had old-ww3rp on helix?

No, which is part of the reason I mentioned we'd be able to make it the most technically-sound iteration of the old concept. Everything's much smoother with Helix, along with all the additional functions/systems we developed during the years since the previous iteration of the old version.

ww3rp was fun but clockwork made it horrendous sometimes with the abysmal fps

remember to make the weapon base m9k to improve roleplay

But no, this sounds very good and very well thought through. End of the day, people want a break from the somewhat dull, sometimes boring city setting of HL2 and that's where WW3 used to shine. Hopping on and RPing for a bit before running around doing some S2K. Never a dull moment on the frontlines of Turkey!

Personally, as a guy who used to play the old WW3RP, and due to my service never really touched or experienced stasiland besides a few weekends on the side, I like the idea sort of. I personally always did like playing the gamemode cause it had a nice setting, and people who actually made it fun to play around. I think that now that some people who used to play the vidya grew up, a lot more can be done in that setting so it'll be interesting to see.

But I also do think the community should try other things too, really liked the idea of the Terminator not to mention WW3RP had a lot of chances, not saying that it shouldn't happen, I am just saying I want to also see other ideas cause so far we had FTRP and WW3.

as some insurgents are always only in it for the wealth even in real life
True, most people who join terror organizations are either poor and the organization pays them wages to be part of it/pays their families in case they die or that small percentage that actually believes in what the organization stands for.

If we're going to do a faction styled WW3RP server, as opposed to the initial concept of Stasiland with a civilian focus, then we should really amp up the horrific angle of the war.

A thing I didn't like about the old iterations, and even Stasiland when NATO eventually got added, was how folk would rush out to get a quick S2K fix and ignore most IC involvement in the process, it didn't really feel like warfare so much as it was a reskinned Halo match or something.

Now I'm not saying shove babies in washing machines, but show the effects of war on the local area, use maps with destroyed infrastructure, scatter minefields around, make PKs a very real possibility under the right circumstances, make the chances of being permanently wounded even more likely, regular bombing runs could be a thing and so on. The atmosphere of the setting is very important, without it we see a lot less roleplay.

Also, might be worthwhile using the actual armed forces of whatever nation we're stationed in this time. Yeah Soviets are cool and all, but if you want to bring a little more roleplay to the table, bring in the idea of having countrymen have to shoot at one another, another layer of drama on top of it all, could allow for backstabbing and defections on either side. Kinda hard to do that when you don't even share the same language, nevermind the same nation or culture.

Also uh, we probably don't need a very massive map either. Fork was too big, not enough hubs. Should be going for something akin to the Battle of Grozny, intense urban fighting.

My heart O_O

Yeah I guess you're right, but not everyone's gonna think like that, it's hard to push rp onto others don't forget. (this in regard to the making the RP scenario more scary and war type)

just thought about LFs there and it would be relatively minor but air cav tactics would become very viable because the base is so easy 2 use

Instead of having ur awesome Soviet fire team have to run from A to B to flank why don’t you airlift them onto a rooftop that’s a far better position

Before WACs general choppy behaviour meant anything like that would be near suicide for the crew and a general hassle for all involved

This, but with even more buildings and verticality.

Urban hell.

And paradrops now that you don't spawn inbetween the rotors.
even medvacs are viable because the base is so much less effort to use

catch me doing black hawk down roleplay on this bitch

Which is partly why I want vehicles to be used more frequently and we developed the key items so players can spawn them themselves, without having to wait for SAs and such.

LFS also has a pretty good AI auto-pilot function, meaning the AI can pretty much just fly by itself or along a pre-designated route for event purposes, even with passengers/gunners in the other seats.
