How many more projects do you plan to 'lead' and disappear mid-way?
I feel the need to defend them on this point. They both did a great job at trying to hold up the current iteration of HL2RP alongside Ricsow. How is the neglect of their community and staff their fault? Me and several others stuck to this iteration for longer than most did, and these guys kept it going for us, when it was only just a few of us, because they enjoyed what they did to support our hobbies and their own.

Raiden nor myself have never lead a project here before so I am uncertain what you are implying. I have certainly stepped up to fill gaps back during HL2RP² and assisted Nathan heavily for getting Early Days up but I was never a project "lead" before here. Tackling and creating a work flow and operation method to minimize and avoid burn out is actively on our minds. Raiden and I acting as co-leads to share tasks.

First on our agenda is creating a full design document for what needs to be done, and putting out hiring listings.

We have discussed the crafting system and resource gathering and wish to look at making a resource node system that won't actively require staff handling the economy. Rather then stuff manually placed by staff or the random spawn points of the past we are wanting more of a harvesting, gathering system with a resource node system that can be pre-established and allow us to create points of interest people can seek out, control, or even destroy as an example.

This screenshot is many years old - do I understand correctly that as of right now, you have nothing?
This initial concept was made by Boots back in 2022 for Linntrix's Iteration, yes. Boots has also been enlisted to create new concepts in this style for a full reference list of the updated UI.

Work has not happened in advanced, now that the project is announced we will be getting things rolling. We also are not rushed for a release date at this moment in time and will be taking our time to ensure the development requirements to make this setting thrive are met. The UI is just an easy starting point, the Character Creation Overhaul will be our first main task as I currently see it so it can all be built around it.

How interesting... It is an idea so far, but a non-insignificant amount of people seem to also like the concept already (we got an insight about it before, may be the why). Personally I want this kind of idea to come through since I find the idea of doing exactly what has been done before without any enhancement a complete waste of time.

And if you are looking to hire people, I have good hope for what may happen.
Hope you can count me in soon. ;|

Throwing out suggestions to see if some will stick:

1. If there will be a city and an outlands, I believe s2rp within the city's confines- and s2k in the outer areas -better than s2rp for everything.

2. I think Vortigaunts should get a wide array of script-abilities, more than a beam and healing. A bullet shield, generator starter (if generators are important in the server), amplified melee, ground-pound (shock-wave; whatever you could call it), an ability to light up an area with a ball of light, even a flash-bang variant, etc.

3. As a "resource-node" an antlion farm with resin-producing capabilities can be used to craft weaponry and other things. As mentioned, something like this could be controlled.

4. Base-building (If there won't be an adequate amount of buildings to be housed in)(boundary setting, wall placement, building placements, health bars to accompany them, and being able to repair it as well.)

5. Playable Xen creatures (crab variants, zombie variants, bullsquids and houndeyes, etc.)

6. Being able to go prone

I wish you luck with this project. The only advice I have to give right now is to ensure you have a gameplay loop that does not require any admin intervention. Do that and you might stand a chance, provided the server has it's own quirk to stand out (which so far the premise alone is pretty cool)

Sorry to double post but @PepicWalrus do yourself and the team a favour and don't build off of HL2RP 2, just do a fresh iteration based on retail lore or something.

I think the fact you and a few others were absent for most of that iteration, and quite frankly, didn't do a good job continuing the story of it, you'd have a lot more creative freedom if you just built a new world out of a story you have a better overall understanding of.

I'd say HL2RP 2 has several critical story points that would have to be swept under the rug to build off of it as a setting.

It's not a case of it being far-fetched to me, I really don't care about adhering to retail lore as long as long as it's fun, and in any case that was more of a suggestion relating to getting a fresh start.

I just think if you aren't carrying over any of the key story points from HL2RP 2, you should just commit and say it's a whole new timeline.

It is more the general series of events although we'll be doing a cleaned up timeline. The war resulted in the Race X incursion and a united effort to defeat the Geneworm.

I also if enough information can be gathered on past iterations have an interest in creating a unified Helix timeline so people can pull from all of Nebs history for the occupation period with the lines cleaned up to fix up any contradictions.

Regardless the actual occupation and war is shared history for people to pull from while what we'll be focusing on is what the world has become and developed into.

If anything it can be viewed like parallel timelines where the originals happened in their isolation still while this stands as a unique timeline with similar past events that we'll curate into a cohesive pre-history.

I wouldn't mind contributing to this.

I've been meaning to write a thread regarding what happened to the OBC.
I intend to start getting a lore team together soon after a few other tasks are done so world building can happen during development so keep an eye out for that.

I am by no means a musician in any way but I was toying around in Audacity out of sheer boredom, and I think this could fit nicely as some main menu music or just general ambience.



We're also looking into replacing sounds in game in general for things such as clicking something in the Menu, equipping a clothing item, etc., I believe audio plays a big part in making things seem fresh and new.
