Actually, the kicker is - all the (current) phase two troopers were transhumans from the start, HUNTER-2 included.

2 was one of the first soldiers this iteration, and since we've actually stepped back and let the troopers be actual independent characters from day one, his going out hit even harder for a lot of the soldier characters that've been around since the word 'go'.
