Think most peoples issue with the 'lgbt community' is the extreme gay culture

you look like a twat wearing a gimp suit on a float
No I do get this though - it's certainly not a majority of people but there are individuals who are annoyingly in-your-face about their sexuality which for me, doesn't do the community wonders.

We should be normalising LGBT acceptance, not brandishing it with flamboyancy.

i mean plenty of guys say fuck fags, what goes around comes around
doesnt justify being discriminatory against heterosexual people wtf

alright but you see that argument is very often used against shit like, for example, a gay couple kissing in a movie, or even existing in media at all. you'll get people going "whats the point in having the gays in [x] its shoving it down our throats". at that point it pretty obviously boils down to "i'm okay with gay people but only if they're somewhere where i can't see them so i can forget they exist".

dont even get me fucking started on people doing the same shit about trans people

big generalization energy
i take no issue with gay people and relationships in media, there are fantastic movies specifically dedicated to it that ive watched, and book authors who manage to portray it in a way that fits with their universe and theme (example: George RR Martin)
i take issue when its done poorly for the sake of representation and purposefully is made a massive deal of to show how ”inclusive” the creator is, even if it detracts from the actual media
sometimes the inclusion of such characters works wonders to improve a story if theyre portrayed realistically rather than showed in

i recently played a small indie title called Timespinner that i found stellar with an alright plot but mainly fun gameplay, that i was immedeatly quite turned off from when, in a story that otherwise deals with a heavy fantasy theme, demons, loss of family and finding out a big mystery suddenly appears a whole cast of characters separate from the entire game otherwise where it is quickly shoved in your face that theyre all bi and polyamorous and have an entire scene where they just talk sex
i found that extremely obnoxious and it completely broke the atmosphere and pace of the game when it starts right after you’d just made major revalations in the plot, as it serves nothing to the plot or overall game either

this is an example of shoehorning and is the main reason i sometimes dont like LGBT stuff in media, as i personally dont want to be represented in a shoehorned fashion for the sake of a creator picking up a few virtue points

rant over, go pick up timespinner, read George RR Martin and watch more gay oriented films thank you

tru my dude but you also gotta realize theres a LARGE amount of people that use that exact argument to justify shitting on absolutely any representation of gay people. could have a guy casually mention his boyfriend and i guarantee you there'll be a shitstorm on twitter about "the media forcing THE GAY AGENDA down our throats"

and to that i say let screechers screech
i am and remain unphased by shit like that cuz it wont change a thing anyways

also twitter is and has always been a poor representation of opinion as a whole as those who screech the loudest are he ones seen, not the overall majority

"the media forcing THE GAY AGENDA down our throats"
friend was watching a show earlier, they've been binging like 3 seasons, 12 episodes per, etc. Out of the 30 something episodes they watched, no gay characters, but suddenly one episode a character mentioned their same-sex partner and friend gets angry and shuts off the show. "why do they always have to put so many gay people in shows?? shoving it down my throat!"

There are some inserts that are pretty shit tbh
I watched all of Glee and liked all the characters because they were wrote as such, they were fun.
After the fact turning a character to *insert whatever minority group is hot right now* is pretty stupid imo

this...

As for the overly flamboyant, there are overly flamboyant straight people and overly flamboyant gay people.
Most gay people and straight people (who are not overly flamboyant, just normal dudes, not machos either) find them annoying.
There are all types of personalities within all sexualities, and all of them have some annoying people.

If you wear assless leather chaps, you're fucking annoying (to me), regardless of your sexuality.

yeah but who cares if you’re annoyed

I handle a lot of annoying people and I’ve realized generalizing them cause of something I can attach to their identity, (or even worse when they do it for me) is dumb as fuck cause there’s annoying people, and there’s not so annoying people.

I don’t have connotations to anyone for their actions and I don’t mind flamboyance (something I’ve had to learn, I had this mindset prior but realized) it’s fine if you’re more willing to display your pride then others cause we, least in the US allow anyone to do so. from angry alt-right leaning displays, gay prides, die-hard Christians, at the very least if they don’t hurt anyone or impede society dramatically that’s disruptive they’re... fine?

Why does it bother you the way people live?

If you want them to be normalized why do you dislike when a gay character appears?

They're just a normal character what's the big issue?

Characters aren't "turned" most of the time, you just don't notice their sexuality until they mention it out loud, or sometimes you can even doubt about it but only truly find out when they come out about it.

I'm not going to say "coming out of the closet" isn't quite the used trope in media but is it really an issue at all to be even slightly annoyed at... ?

You either didn't understand what I wrote or your purposefully misrepresenting what I wrote.

I doesn't bother me the way people live, as long as they don't intrude in the way I live.
I don't mind vegans, as long as they don't force me to be Vegan, the same way I won't force a Vegan to eat meat.

Me finding assless leather chaps annoying has nothing to do with pride, I also find using sandals with socks annoying.
Still free to wear either of those things... as long as it is appropriate. Don't wear sandals & socks or assless leather chaps to a corporate job interview and then be surprised when the person doesn't want to hire you lmao

Why do you assume I was referring to characters coming out?
No, I'm talking about people who demand (as an example) James Bond would be way cooler if he suddenly became gay. That's stupid. Why would James Bond suddenly become gay? That's what I'm talking about.

Why do you people assume so much and instantly go aggro lmao

Because that's how it sounded. How about uhhhhhhhh explaining yourself properly?

Yeah I agree saying "they'd be cooler if they were gay" is kinda silly, but let people enjoy things and their own fantasies I suppose

Also thanks for returning the dumb rating, but you really should learn how to explain your points so people can understand you

Nobody went aggro calm down I was just asking

As I said, maybe use better words so you can't be mistaken, I have assumed the way I have due to the short explanation

I literally used the word turned because that's what I was talking about.
You instead assumed I was wrongfully using the word 'turned' when it was a perfectly correct use of it.
You just assumed whatever regarding the use of the word, based on your preconceptions.

If you had taken the word 'turned' for the value it actually holds instead of trying to fit in some secret agenda of mine into it, it was a sufficient explanation.

also, you did go aggro, with your 'disliking when gay characters appear', as if I was hating gays, when I never said anything near that. Literally started my initial post with 'I liked Glee' which was the biggest amalgamation of gay characters around, so obviously the 'annoyance' wasn't at the existence of gay characters and that was obvious.

It was properly used, however you failed to explain yourself properly, because you said the character turned and not that it was turned or that you meant that people wanted it turned.

You failed at getting your point across, left a wide open space for doubt. I was merely trying to clarify what you were talking about.

If you had taken the word 'turned' for the value it actually holds instead of trying to fit in some secret agenda of mine into it, it was a sufficient explanation.

'Turned' can mean many things depending on the context and your context was null. I took it that you meant the character itself turned gay all of a sudden because that's literally what you said with no additional context. I never thought you have some "secret agenda" of sorts so idk what you're talking about. The issue isn't the word alone but the little context you gave to it lmao, chill.

Imagine if I wear little accessories that I only put on my watch to control my times at the gym.

However I tend to prefer more minimalistic designs, regardless of gender - Too diamond-y stuff I tend not to like. Idk imo they'd be cooler if they were plain golden or plain silver, but that's just me.

They do look cool, sort of, but they feel like they're for formal wear? Like, something you'd wear to a celebration of sorts. Dunno. Maybe it's because of the diamond-y stuff.
