i thought that was tranny
not trap
groups can have more than one slur
i thought that was tranny
not trap
I was under the impression that traps and transgender folk were two entirely different things
modern day they are
it's a push from transgender people that they're the same thing that's actually making it the same thing; it's a self harming push in a sense.
sometimes trans people are called traps in malicious ways though, that's something we should be upfront with, though as far as i'm aware, traps are just cis guys who enjoy looking feminine, or look feminine by default.
People say that, and some people identify as a trap, but as a whole, trap is a slur towards transgender people.
Here's a video if you guys really want to explore it
traps are not cis guys who enjoy looking feminine, the word trap is actually an anime cliché by its own term definition
they're characters made to look like women so the viewer will go like "oh cute girl" and then be met with some sort of "scene" where the person reveals not to be a woman
it's not an issue of the character itself, there's nothing bad about being a man and being feminine - the issue with the word comes in the way traps are presented in modern day anime ("haha funni look like girl but has dick" when there's women with penises)
and guess which people call themselves traps today in real life?
cis guys who enjoy looking feminine
a lot of famous "anime" traps themselves aren't trans
it's not a thing of them being trans or not, it's the way "traps" are presented
also no they don't, those guys call themselves drags, I'm sure you've seen plenty already
trap is still a slur and sometimes used as an slur by weebs when addressing trans women, same as "reverse trap"
then the trend passed from weebs to the rest of the people, somehow
traps come from anime, i don't think i need to explain why we should be defining people with fictional character traits (like "haha you're such a tsundere"... ?)
i dunno im just gonna keep saying trap to people who jokingly referr to themselves as trap
i really do not get the big problem history or not its just a word and if the person in question doesnt take offense why care
there's a distinct difference between drag and trap
drag is an over-exaggeration of femininity, to the point where it becomes satire of femininity.
i said trap is sometimes used as a slur to trans women, but traps are also an individual group of people.
there's a distinct difference between drag and trap
drag is an over-exaggeration of femininity, to the point where it becomes satire of itself
The term "drag" refers to the wearing of clothing of the opposite gender (cross-dressing), and may be used as a noun as in the expression in drag, or as an adjective as in drag show.
traps are also an individual group of people

its not a slurjesus christ for the thousandth time if you want to call your friend a trap or a cunt or an asshole and you guys are cool with it nobody is stopping you from doing so
Trap is slur recognized by GLAAD. Regardless of people call themselves trap, the word is not reclaimed. You're talking about crossdressers.
no that's not a drag, there's a difference between them too, one exists and the other is an anime trope
can you offer evidence of this so called group existing? trap is an anime/manga trope that comes from anime/manga and originated in anime/manga, definitely didn't originate in the west, but is there actually a group of people who define themselves as traps? (traps, not drags [cross-dressers] or crossplayers)
cross dressers are often traps, but not all traps are crossdressers
as far as i know, crossdressing is bound to cosplaying
also i've never heard of a GLAAD and honestly i don't care what GLAAD says
is it beyond your thought that a trend from media made it's way into real life due to the hype around it? we already know that media has influence over people
since this trend originated from anime, because again; media can, and does have influence over how people behave in real life, (hell, one could argue that scene culture originated from emo bands) a lot of traps take part in crossplaying, but here's a few examples of traps

its not a slur
some people identify, jokingly or not, as traps because the meaning of the word has shifted from its origin in the public eye to describing men with a certain appearance
if people use/take it as a slur thats entirely up to them but the general interpretation of the word by most who use it and those who identify with it is just what it is
stop invalidating people who identify as traps you bigot
