serious question, considering some of you are far more likely to know about it than me
what does queer even mean
because i keep hearing it and i know it's related to LGBT stuff but I always assumed it was a term for homosexuals, but it turns out I'm probably wrong.
just asking to make sure that i dont say anything stupid or ignorant in the future and end up hurting someone xx

I think queer was reclaimed, and now refers to someone who does not want labels on them, or is unsure, or the labels do not fit.

For example, I would say that I am queer. I don't know if I want to say I'm bi, or if I would want to go as far as to say I'm pansexual. I just like people for who they are and don't really care about gender, but at the same time, don't feel fully comfortable calling myself bi or pan.

Queer is an umbrella term for sexual and gender minorities who are not heterosexual or are not cisgender

Im fairly sure it was also used as an insult for the longest time but the lgbt community’s started taking it back

afaik its a catch-all
queer basically just means "different" in the sexuiality/gender sense, at least in swedish (might have a different definition in english dont quote me)

It's very situational but it's also incredibly broad. It's a reclaimed term that can be used to describe anyone under the umbrella, but really only should be used by the persons under that umbrella given the other connotation. A lot of questioning people or those who don't feel like they fit under another specific term tend to use it most.

Think I'm pansexual I like everyone

Lol honest question but whats the difference between bi and pan? That's what really confuses me because everyone has different opinions. I view bi as in, i like both genitals, pee pee and vagoo. Is pan then just like, you like genders regardless of downstairs? But doesn't that serve the same purpose as bi, just that you're romantically driven? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Bi keeps the idea of sexual attraction solely operating within a strictly male-female binary, pan operates without the binary being a factor.

To me at least I care about the persom above all else like if I like someone I wouldn't be against kissing them based solely on the genitals

Pan was basically invented as the gender-ignoring version of bi
which imo is kinda pointless because the way i see it bi is already "loving anyone" but because it comes from the term bi as in two people felt the need to seperate it
which i again think is kinda pointless cuz its still the same thing : )

I sorta kinda do care about genitals which is what makes it confusing for me. I like penis, but I think female presenting people are really attractive too. So like, I wouldn't be fully comfortable with being with someone sexually if they had a vagina, but I'd be down with anyone if we didn't have sex. Idk.

i believe this is what the nerds would call "bi-romantic heterosexual"

As a bi dude, I couldn't hook up with a trans (or non binary) person. The body corresponding to the identity/presentation play a huge role in my attraction to someone. Mix and match doesn't do it for me. *shrug*

A pansexual person typically doesn't got that goin' on in their decision making.
