There aren't straight areas or gay areas, there are areas. Gay bars were made as a place where gay people could go and openly socialize. Now-a-days, that's still a big part of it but they're not just for gay people but for anyone who likes that sort of bar and club. With the increased and increasing acceptance of gay people across the Western world, and I'd argue most people are very accepting, the relevance of gay bars is pretty minimal and they exist for anyone to goto.

I don't think they should be called straight areas or gay areas. I don't like when someones personality is dependant on their sexual orientation because that is a very minimal part of you as a whole person and doesn't really come into the equation of you being a good person who is a decent human being, because it really doesn't matter anymore and hardly anyone cares that much about it.

yeah, the underlying reason why they exist is to clear up the confusion about who you can and cannot hit on.
sure, mixing is fine, but it's just such a pain to see someone you like and then agonize over whether they might be gay or bi.

being heterosexual gives you the advantage of knowing that you at least have a chance with many of the people you're interested in, and you're not immediately barred off because of gender. I'd prefer to not have to guess and be able to make like-minded friends, and a gay bar is where you can do that. straight people are of course welcome, as long as they're prepared to receive the occasional pick up line like whilt said.

it's true fellas, a gay conversion squad chased me down the street and threw flannel at me and shaved the side of my head now i have no choice but to munch box, it's tragic please send help!!!

also damn are y'all really complaining about gay people have some places to themselves in a society designed around heterosexuality, get over it lol, I'd like to have a place to hang out where I'm not going to get hit on by men 24/7 like I do at work or any other "normal" places

my only issue with LGBT+ spaces is how many of them revolve around intense parties and drinking booze, it's not really my scene, love it if someone opened up a gay coffee shop round here or something

i was just walking home one day when two men pulled me into an alley and forced me to listen to ymca while they set up my twitter page and put pride flags in my bio

my stance on most things is if it doesnt hurt anyone who doesnt wanna be hurt then its cool
