Homosexuality was an actual practice during the old roman times, although it wasn't something that envolved love but instead was more of a pleasure thing, some emperors openly had sexual relationships with men. Homosexuality between women wasn't the same thing, since the ideology where the woman takes care of the family while the father brings glory was still a thing. I am not sure about this, but I think they also had male whorehouses at some point.
I find it really interesting these practices existed and were accepted centuries ago. Maybe not as well accepted as nowadays, but it was accepted in some way.

all abrahamic religions are famously anti-lgbt with a few occasional exceptions in each religionculturally ingrained homophobia is a relatively "new" (I mean, not by our standards, but historically speaking y'know) thing that mostly came out of Europe, it really wasn't taboo in a lot of ancient cultures
hell the Church used to do same sex marriage between Knights back in the day, and Africa, despite being famed for being pretty homophobic these days (A result of imported Evangelical Christianity) has a pretty rich tradition of being queer as hell

we tend to look at acceptance of LGBT people as a relatively recent thing, but in reality it's been pretty flip floppy over the course of human history, an up and down of acceptance and condemnation. A more comtemporary example would be post WWII America, where a surge of progressiveism and acceptance of gays was cut down by the Red Scare and led to America being pretty damn queer hostile for a long while after

thanks to a writing in the old testament (aka the bit they all follow to a degree) which was interpreted by many as "homosexuality is a sin" even though the passage necessarily doesnt say that
i remember reading about how the Ottoman Empire was okay with same-sex activity at one point during the Tanzimat reformation in 1858 to the point where its decriminalized. Sure, it still receives discrimination but when comparing with other Muslim-Majority nations but still pretty crazy they did it a lot earlier. @Nicrobe yes?
I personally refuse to acknowledge Ottoman Empire as a part of real Turkish history, as it's literally the very point where we became muslims instead of pagans, and our entire culture and heritage from before got sullied and shat on by mohammed and sand.
But to answer that question, no. Ottomans were just as bigoted and backasswards in terms of same-sex activity as any other religious community of the day. It's just that people enjoyed making fun of the middle east a bit too much. An exception is made, however. The people who are in charge of the harems tended to be those kinds of people, although that may be partially because they get emasculated via getting their bits chopped off with a ROPE.
Nope, I hate history.

I had a good talk 'bout LGBT stuff a while back in one Discord server, and we went over the topics in these images.

We also went over the concept of genderfluidity, as I expressed that they stand a part from these spectrum images in my eyes (as I assumed they were more of an oddity compared to cis and trans genders.) However, we came to a pretty informative conclusion (aka I learned) that technically everybody is somewhere in the spectrum, and that the positions in these spectrums do change along one's life - more than once. I gotta say, I do agree with that. My own internal workings have changed along my years of livin', and chances are they'll change more in the future.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

why are straights and gays both attracted to men
very confusing to use different genders in the non-gender combos
so only rich people are gay?Homosexuality exists in any human institution like many other things. Do remember however that a lot of the culture we do learn from those times is something more related to an aristocratic class that had money and the knowledge to write down its practises.
