maybe the clothing scripts need to be around more instead of anything else

but yeah I’ve noticed some of the rebels seem a bit old timey. i don’t get the brunt of it because people look at how my char is dressed and go “oh cool!” but i know bluesuits are overlooked

people are just boring

dunno how to start or hold a conversation

ive been playing with some friends as a 8 man large american farming/ranching family

rebels suck this iteration

twice have rebels barged into my house and ended up with them trying to kill me for "supporting white-masks" because i didnt give them free shit or tried to kick them out because they barged right into my house during supper

and admins keep forcing xen events on us like fauna has overrun our ranch home three times over the course of two days and a gonarch has attacked me twice while i was building, and spawning thirteen headcrabs isnt very fun when i cant go on my porch without dying

and everytime i try to give rp to loose rebels or refugees, an event forces attention away or people dont want to do passive rp and work rp or anything that isnt script gathering

its mind boggling

i just wanna farm and ranch

i have to say it was fucking hilarious being in the room for the last hour it’s read like a sitcom

but yeah there’s a whole issue with rebels acting like hardasses and being pricks to people because they can get away with it

Tbh its been a problem with rebels since forever, simply because it's traditionally attracted people who don't really need to bother trying to play an actual character as much as it attracts the actual genuinely good roleplayers (which is a good chunk don't get me wrong).

The difference now is they're one of only two factions so its a lot more noticable and less easily ignored - not to mention its impacting other rebels more often, instead of the other side.

This is just more of a general observation, but I feel like this is how the map layout functions from rebel perspective:
image.png

It could be just my own brand of apprehension, but anything past the green zone effectively puts a mental timer on my head. Something akin to "If you spend too much time RPing here, you're getting S2K'd. If you spend too much time S2K'ing, you're getting encircled."

Whether it's actually bad to maintain this kind of mental map is another matter entirely. Duh, of course you should be cautious in a warzone. Even so, I feel that rebels have especially hamstrung mobility. Being based off the deepest corner of the map to the point you're out of the bounds of said corner, it does hell to your ability to respond quickly - doubly so with the chokepoint that leads up to high ground around the green zone. Compare it to the Combine who can quite literally fan out in any direction at their leisure and thus gives their reinforcements the ability to flank very effectively.

Is this a bad thing? Beats me. I'm just seeing something that might be worth pointing out. Technically no skin off my back since I don't have a rebel (yet, anyway), but even as a Vort, it's definitely caused me to rethink how I play on the server. Tonight demonstrated that the Combine could do effectively whatever they wanted with 80% of the map by simply having a Hunter playing peekaboo around the green zone to keep rebels bogged down in the back of the blue zone.

But if you treat the map differently, that's great. These are just my subjective thoughts.

what if we let everyone make guns huh? every bluesuit, every cop every rebel even vorts. like it's rust. all you need is a place to make more advanced stuff. if i want to have a shotgun i just need some pipes and a nail

it can't go wrong. you can trust me with this idea. everyone should be able to make a gun

One thing for me to go alongside my char in future is to get an idea of what we're working towards,
I like some communal long term planning.

That is quite surprising, do elaborate.
even manning our prison here:
C25PnW4.png

means that

as time passes, the probability of a cop dying to a vortigaunt 1shot gradually approaches 100%

there isn't really any "roleplay" to be had outside of our base. every time we leave the clock starts ticking and somebody will inevitably die out of the blue, giving us about 5 minutes to resolve the engagement with the initial party and get the fuck out because otherwise we'll get overrun in ~fourfolds

overall it's currently okay because we're given many side projects, but I can see roleplay attrition kicking in over time
