Think the only thing I wish is that players disintegrated from the ball when it hits them.
Likely just a quirk of the mode, but for me it's up there with headcrab zombies as the most unnerving way to die in the universe

Its placement definitely plays a part. I will give respect to the restraint that the two elites displayed when a bunch of rebels ran out to deal with a minievent before the big attack, but the manning of that outpost in itself has massive implications. It's a major fortification that is a stone's throw away from the sole refuge of the local resistance.

What happens if there are, say, cops in the outskirts of the city, and the rebels on the cliffside - the one that the balcony has a very clear view to - need to open fire on them? The silent pact of nonaggression stops working the second any rebels that the depot guards can see are shooting at other Combine forces nearby.

the elites are just there to guard the transhuman conversion facility, ICly they're completely separate from the main combine garrison so they don't actually have any directives pertinent to backing them up unless the main combine base is literally about to die or something

think of them as a political arm of overwatch itself; here to accomplish the advisors' will, not here to dirty their hands with conflict the way their lesser kind are. royal soldiers type beat

honestly i came by on booker and gave them all that gear with the knowledge that they would definitely do something stupid with it in the hopes that they would then realise their own monkeyness

i don't know if im crazy or if it might be ideal if people in regular clothes were not harassed outside of being detained, interrogated, etc. (preferably outside of their a base) and let go if they have nothing, so that there can be more of the map accessible by cops, who don't kill you so long as you don't pose a threat, while going after those who do.

it would allow for more flexibility in interactions between the two, corruption on both sides and encourage a playstyle that focuses on hitting the union less, but planning and executing better with the resources needed, rather than haphazardly running with the wind.

i feel like at the moment im playing something that reminds me a lot of stasiland, which is a good thing for me personally, but the stasi/soviets finna turn you into a skin skeleton.

EDIT: i realize this might already be the case

mfw rebels go out and 32 of them die in a single combat encounter

ranchers go out and come back with +3 new workers daily and zero losses (masters of beasts and passive rp, cannotbe killed)

who is WINNING this war?????

actual server feedback though,

ranchers have had i think one event tailored specifically for us to play in, and it was a @deathwolf one, and it was really just more of a mini event late at night for some combat rp, rather than rancher-tailored event at all

ranchers/farmers have had to create all their own rp and have been left alone mostly by staff besides /helps, and we manage to keep rebels and cops off our land so we can do passive and ic ranch work in peace

and honestly, im not complaining - it's been fun, i get irritated sometimes when i get on to a mess of people on the land, this and that, but when it calms and it's just me and the workers and a few nephews chilling and eating dinner, or working on a new building, or out hunting a cattle herd (DEAR GOD ADMINS PLS DO A DAMN CATTLE HERD EVENT WE HAVE WENT OUT EACH DAY AND WAITED ON A HILL BECAUSE THOMAS FORETOLD "HERDS PASS THROUGH THESE VALLEYS ALL THE TIME" I JUST WANNA GET SQUIDS TO SELL IC) and it's been awesome, the most combat rp ive literally done was the deathwolf mini event, and besides that, was killing 'father' for insulting me while grieving my dead nephew

i am still a lover of mass melee clashes, but passive and whats usually boring can be so much more fun - especially when im surrounded by decent rpers, none of the ranchers have script hoarding problems, or problems with leadership, or any of that, we actively give stuff out, try to promote rp (is a bit hard rn since i made ic rules against trespassers temporarily since rebel attacks) and build a rp hub, and they usually come around to orders fairly faster than youd expect some lazy workers to since they aint even a military

im hoping soon, not to be spoon-fed, but have the ranch catered to a bit more, as it's seemingly a larger rp hub mainly because all we do is passive and theres like 16 of us on when we all get on, plus visitors

and if events are had, or anything, id love them to be unique, mayhaps we get the offer to rent a boat and literally just go fish, or a cattle herd passes through and we can try breaking cowsquids, or some old bandits threaten the ranch and we go out desperado style rdr2 cinematic and kill they asses

idk, im having alot of fun despite hiccups with it, and forcing myself to passive in a mostly combat oriented/s2k based server

and yes - i AM ACTIVELY AVOIDING RP WITH ALOT OF REBELS, i do NOT wanna be s2k'ed again

I see. That does track on OOC level, but conveying it IC seems like it'll be a challenge. Not every rebel is going to be "in the know" either due to not checking forums or being present in-server when someone makes a major announcement that the depot can be ignored. Plus, even if it can be ignored... that doesn't sound like it'll do a lot of good for rebel morale. All the lives lost last night turned out to be for a futile objective? If that thought stings me, a vort player, then I can't imagine how rebels must've felt - especially those that were in the fight long enough to have NLR timer wear off and die a second time going back into the fight.

I'm not sure every rebel *needs* to know ICly the specifics freely.

I also don't know what you mean by futile, the Blacksites are destroyable targets. But that doesn't mean they'll be easy or equally defended.

You guys happened to choose the one with Elites guarding it but if you had won the fight which there was definitely the possibility if RNG had been in the rebels favor with the energy ball we wouldn't of stopped you from destroying it.

Would be pretty funny if rebels broke into the ration production facility and left with multiple crates of the (very good, stat boosting) civil protection rations

civil protection does the same but can only get their hands on recycled human meat and biotic rations
