people won't rp if they don't want to, which is the harsh reality of it

but i think we’re all mature enough now to not be retards

might be better to try something new but at the same time it’s a fucking lot of work that got put into something that didn’t end up working out, shame for it to be wasted

s2k will attract a different target audience and it will clearly show if it becomes a primary gameplay mechanic

Yes, that's more or less the point in it being a more action-oriented counterpart to HL2RP, it's always been the core of WW3RP. A shooter with roleplay elements around it.

Very well, if that is your plan then I cannot really object to it.
I just wish you and your team good luck in their endeavours! (Should you open the server, that is)

its clearly not a working recipe if its died
The only time it died by a lack of players wanting to play it was with the recent experimental WW3RP, which we had to change multiple times to the whims of the public. WW3RP in its original form never died due to lack of interest.

It's died many more times than twice, and that's why bringing it back makes sense. It's a proven working recipe.

You don't have to play it.

That's... not a great way of putting it lmao

I believe I mentioned this previously, but the only times (aside from Stasiland) where it "died" was when the community either closed (lemonpunch) or when we decide to close it due to personal reasons (nebulous). In essence, it is a working recipe. But I personally wouldn't want to bring it back as the old version (e.g. same factions with different skins) either.

i rather have trp than ww3rp tbh
To each their own, and that's fine, it's why it's a discussion.

I personally don't see much in trp, mainly due to the heavy requirements of admin involvement and the players vs 'npc' system. I've always felt like things played out better when there's actual characters and groups of players on all sides who develop stories together and opposing eachother.

i dont like s2k and i dont like any server that forces players to be against one another, its not roleplay

the server was at its best when it was just s2k and fucking around in voice with the lads, the rp was never fun and i only ever joined to play with my friends and shoot things. the nlr timer and stuff that forced people to rp was just ways to make people afk

its been done twice and died twice, why bring it back instead of something new?

are you a riddle?

I'd say this iteration of WW3RP will definetly cater to an audience that likes the freedom and style of a relatively simple universe, since history is easier to be played compared to fandom communities of movies / games etcetera.

If one thing should remain a priority in this version, it must be player freedom: it was one of the core values which, in my opinion, made Stasiland much more different compared to other servers. Of course, trust must be regulated and it's been broken enough to warrant a stricter system: but allowing more opportunities aslong as the idea itself is creative would be fantastic.

We'll certainly get a lot of the nostalgic WW3 players first, and over time we can gain more players. There's even a chance that people who are new to roleplay are more likely to join WW3RP, as the setting sounds less fictional, atleast so I think.
Another point: have a heavy focus on making the introduction as easy to understand as possible, even to newer roleplayers. It doesn't have to be an admin walking them through every step of the way, but anything else to allow new players to feel at home.

Having the Soviets as an initially scary force to new roleplayers would be excellent - formation and discipline would make them seem undefeatable at first, which could make new players determined to gain superiority, somehow.

I'm overall very excited, but I don't want to influence the current concept too much - it'll work, and we all got faith in you and the project.

still i dont see why something new wouldnt be done
A sentence that was passed around during Stasiland that I think might add to the value of bringing WW3RP back:

"If this game mode was reverted to WW3RP, it'd be the most mechanically sound edition of the server we've ever run."

I think there's space to bring the game mode back with the lessons of Stasiland and old WW3RP. I think there's a side of the community that remains for this specific purpose.

the first post was unironic while the second was posed in irony (see vote above on No if you are still unsure)
